2014 - 2015 Chapter Accomplishments

What has your Chapter done lately?

  • Provides members with quality improvement programs with MOC part 4 credit

  • Provides members with numerous educational opportunities throughout the year

  • Partnered with the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to promote the use of the immunization network (ImmuNet)

  • Facilitated better communication between MDAAP members and the VFC program

  • Created an electronic Weekly Digest to provide members with a concise compilation of "News to Know"

  • Provided training and support for the Reach Out and Read Program; received funding through Race to the Top (MSDE) to enroll 75,000 additional children statewide. To date, we have enrolled 87 practices and almost 101,500 children.

  • Revamped the Chapter website to make it a better resource for members

  • The Chapter is a strong public advocate for a wide range of issues which are of vital importance to Maryland's children and has a robust presence in Annapolis not only during Maryland's legislative session but throughout the year

  • Provides opportunities for interested members to advocate state-wide and nationally on behalf of children and the profession of pediatrics

  • Revitalization of the Pediatric Council with quarterly meetings between Chapter members and payors

  • Created a Poverty Task Force to address emergent issues related to children and families

  • Received the Large Chapter of the Year award from National AAP in recognition of achievements in 2014
