MDAAP Lead Poisoning Toolkit

Welcome to the MDAAP Lead Poisoning Toolkit, a resource to help you identify and manage patients exposed to lead. In this toolkit, you will find information on screening and testing for lead poisoning, management and follow up guidelines by lead level, and local, state and national resources to assist in the reporting and management of children with elevated lead levels. There are also printable handouts for your patients and recent articles on lead poisoning reprinted from the chapter newsletter to provide you with more information on this topic. Great progress has been made in reducing childhood lead exposure over the past several decades. While no level of lead can be considered safe, current guidelines consider a level of 5 ug/dl as the level at which identifying the source of lead exposure and close follow-up should be performed. We hope you find this toolkit to be a useful resource and welcome your comments and suggestions.
